No its not a "new trend", its one that truly never goes out of style, Leopard print is just having its big moment- and will stay with us, as we head into Summer.

When I think Leopard Print I always see chic Parisian style, complete with a red lip and that f*ck you attitude. But then just as quickly I feel sexy, grungy street style with oversized silhouettes and a bit of a trashy rock vibe. I suppose that's the beauty about a print- its neither "out of style" or does it only lend itself to one "look" or style of dressing.

So I've done the round up of what's readily available atm - all thing leopard print! As I know your being bombarded with it all in stores and online.

The true beauty of such an iconic print- yes apart from being timeless- as I think I've made that point apparently clear now. Is that it can be done completely over the top or can just be injected in small ways into your outfit.

TOP TIP

Personally, adding a leopard print scarf to any of my outfits- always make me feel that little bit edgy, sexy and just elevates the look.

I also love a statement piece in a bold print- here I think, a pointed pump, a faux furr, a maxi dress.

I have been searching for the perfect leopard print flats and jeans- for the last two years (yes well before the now, "trendiness"(and to be honest- my hunt is still not over)

So if you have any recommendations- please let me know!

jeans/ Pants

The most staple item in your wardrobe, and yet the hardest thing on the planet to find! The perfect fit, the perfect length and the ones that make your ass look amazing whilst sucking in your mum tum and also comfortable- do they even exist???? well that in itself is an entirely different post yet to come.

But these are my favorite checky leopard print jeans available in store and online now

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM: Lioness Horseshoe jean, Cotton On Super baggy jean, Glassons midrise baggy jean, H&M pattern pants, ASOS poplin pants, Topshop animal print jeans

Lets break it down for you.

  • If your tall, got a tight tum and love a cool on trend silhouette, then the LIONESS, horse shoe Leopard print jeans are for you. This cut is so on trend, STAY AWAY if your short they will only decrease your height and make you look bottom heavier (unless you live in a platform). These can be worn with trainers for a grungy street feel or dressed up with pumps and paired with a fitted top to really accentuate the cool silhouette.

  • The COTTON ON, super baggy leopard print jean, although affordable really leaves much to desire. Dont get me wrong if you've got wash board abs and are reminiscing of Christina Algeria (genie in the bottle days)- then these are for you. Im loving that throw back- but they just didn't do it for me. The fit was a bit weird- you couldn't drop them down for that cool 90s look and they were not high enough to hide the mumtum. Ohh and out of the selection they did seem to ride more on that yellowy colour. So they are a pass for me.

By far my favorite options- based on the print, the tone and the fit would be the GLASSONS, print mid rise baggy fit jean and the TOPSHOP, midrise column animal print jean.

  • For a baggy more relaxed look that still lifts and is high enough cut to give a boxy body shape- then the Glasson's jean is for you. I only wish the material was a little heavier so that it flattered better over the tum area (but that's my personal consistent shitty area).

  • The Topshop jean, has a midrise fit but with a non stretch denim, you get a rigid fit that more often than not proves to be more flattering. With a cropped ankle and a column leg these are sitting in my chart!

TOP TIP

Flowy pants are my go to for those days you feel bloated and dont want to zip yourself in. They create better movement and look so good with billowing tops, work well in printed matched sets and are just comfortable.

H&M do a flowy pant so so so well and have for many a season. The pattern pants, have been a staple in my wardrobe for 2 seasons now and I have two pairs of them (one that I trash the bottoms of when I wear flats and the second pair are for when I throw on a heel) Did I mention they are currently on sale for $17. Do yourself a favour, grab them NOW.

However, for a more rigid pant, that could almost double as a jean- I'm craving the ASOS, cotton poplin wide leg pants. Poplin lends itself to a more structured silhouette and honestly for me, school pickups and grocery shopping or even breakfast dates (where I'll be sitting) I don't want to feel restricted in a jean so these would be my go-to!

LEOPARD WARDROBE ESSENTIALS

FROM TOP-BOTTOM: LABOHEME Clyde shirt, ZARA suede coat, ZARA mini, MIMCO rock & roar necklace, H&M platform espadrills, MIMCO blondie pouch, MIMCO umbrella

As we are coming to the end of winter and I'm already noticing summer coming into stores (this body is far from swimsuit ready- time to cut back on my chip intake).

My number one go to is the ZARA animal print mini. Layer on a trench with a pair of trainers and you've got a cute lunch outfit. Or throw on some thigh high boots a cropped bomber and you've got a dinner outfit ready to go. In summer all you'll need is what i think will be the next hot sandal (the lace up roman inspired thin strapped sandal) or my forever staple -a chunky flatform. Due to the boxy cut the dress glides over all the bumps and lumps and allows your legs to do the talking, a slick of fake tan and a cute pair of oversized earrings and you're done!

LABOHEME are just consistently growing an evolving their inhouse brand, and i love seeing new silhouettes being added to their range. As a self-confessed "non flowy dress" girl the Clyde Shirt, this is the answer to my wardrobe.

What is better than a local Central Coast brand and store that is producing items that prove to be staples in so many a wardrobe.

TOP TIP

Wearing it buttoned as a dress only requiring shoes to be added. Open as shacket over either a cute pair of bike shorts and oversized mens's tee. Or layered over a fitted ribbed dress and cinched in at the waist with a belt. This has already sold out, with its first drop- so you better be quick.

If your still new to the print scene and dont want to go all out, then I recommend, adding leopard print in small amounts. This is where accessories, become your best friend! My number ONE item I reach for it always a scarf. It makes me feel more chic and sophisticated, in winter it also adds warmth, I think it can create a slimmer jawline and just add a statement to an outfit.

With trends is always easier to add through smaller investment pieces. For me leopard print shoes are an investment for years to come (if you can find the right pony hair option) For a more casual look, the H&M espadrilles are cute and will be a good transitional shoe atm.

Mimco's Blondie range, is just perfection, and their quality as always never disappoints. Ill be adding both the Blondie Clutch and Blondie Umbrella to my Wishlist.

my top picks

Leopard print is here to stay, so jump into it have some fun. Remember, it works best when paired with a bold lip, a bold block colour (blues, pale pinks, red) or keeping it paired back with tonal colours (black, olive, off white). Whether your head to toe or just sporting a scarf- i dare you to tell me you don't feel that little bit more sexy when you're in leopard.

For all things leopard and more inspiration go follow and check out...
